Special Facilities

The TSE laboratory includes a number of unique facilities not available at other labs. This includes the three large load frames that can be adapted to apply load to the majority of specimens up to 5500 mm in length, a climate-controlled room for creep and shrinkage work, over 100,000 litres of curing tanks, 2000 m² of casting and spraying area, culverts for simulated tunnel work, and a weigh bridge for accurate dispensing of concrete. Together, these facilities make TSE one of the capable laboratories in Australia for research and testing in areas related to concrete materials and structures, especially shotcrete.
